2023 Hammer-In
The Kentucky Forge Council held our 7th annual Hammer In on October 7th, 2023. The free community event was held at the Kentucky Museum at WKU and sponsored by the Kentucky Folklife Program and Logan Aluminum.
The event featured live demonstrations from keynote speaker Ernie Dorrill of Canton, MS, who shared his knowledge of ornamental chasing and repoussé.
Other events included an Iron-in-the-Hat auction, with pieces donated generously from Ernie Dorrill and KFC members.
This year was a huge success with a community turnout of over 500!
Demonstrations
Green coal demonstrations and basic skills workshops were held by KFC members Chris Radus, Greg Knight, Elizabeth Hoffman, Eleanor Davidson, and Jonathan Eby.

Aluminum casting by The WKU League of Sculptors.
Propane forging by Daniel and Cassie Nagel and John Zeh.
Knife sharpening services provided by Matthew's Knife Sharpening of Bowling Green, KY.
